YAY it’s pumpkin season, who else is craving a pumpkin spice latte daily!? As much as I love the classic PSL, I want healthier homemade alternatives that are still fall flavored. So a Pumpkin Spice Smoothie Bowl sounds like the best choice, right? To stay extra festive, I layered my pumpkin spice smoothie in a hollowed out pumpkin with Great Grains® Crunchy Pecan cereal.
Start by making your pumpkin spice smoothie. It only requires 5 ingredients and feel free to change the ratios based on your preference. I added 1 cup vanilla greek yogurt, 1/2 cup pumpkin puree, 1 frozen banana, 1/2 teaspoon pumpkin pie spice, a drizzle of honey and 1/2 cup of ice to a blender. Blend, blend, blend until smooth.
Now that the smoothie is ready it’s time to compile the smoothie bowl. Start with the blended smoothie on the bottom of your bowl (pumpkin in my case).
If you don’t want to hollow out a pumpkin, this bowl is super cute!
Alternate with layers of pumpkin smoothie and Great Grains® Crunchy Pecan. I had three layers of each. The cereal added awesome crunch and texture to the smoothie bowl. It took milk and cereal to a completely different level. Since Great Grains® Crunchy Pecan cereal is made with crunchy pecans and whole grain wheat, it is a great breakfast option. Post Consumer Brands also has a ton of other cereal options to create a variety of smoothie bowls! Two other Great Grains® Cereal flavors that I tried and loved are : Great Grains® Cranberry Almond Crunch and Great Grains® Banana Nut Crunch. You can find all of these at your local Walmart.
The last part is the most fun! Style your smoothie bowl with your favorite fall toppings. I used pumpkin seeds, bananas and more Great Grains® Crunchy Pecan cereal. The added crunch from clusters in the cereal was AH-mazing!
