The recipe itself is just a cranberry-rosemary simple syrup, bourbon, orange juice, and seltzer (or prosecco if you’re feeling fancy!) We used sugared cranberries and fresh rosemary as a garnish. I’ve actually been adding the cranberry-rosemary simple syrup to plain seltzer for a quick mocktail on a daily basis!

The cranberry-rosemary syrup is pretty much granulated sugar, brown sugar, cranberries and rosemary. I just let the concoction simmer until the cranberries pop and release some color. Our kitchen smells like Christmas when the cranberries are simmering. YUM!

I highly recommend making sugared cranberries for the garnish. I used this tutorial, but essentially you just soak cranberries in a hot simple syrup for 10 minutes and then coat the sticky cranberries in cane sugar. They taste SO good and make a beautiful garnish! They would look amazing on a simple white cake or can even make a great hostess gift.

Ingredients

  • For Cranberry Rosemary Simple Syrup
  • 1 Cup Fresh or Frozen Cranberries
  • 1/2 Cup Granulated Sugar
  • 1/2 Cup Brown SUgar
  • 1 Cup Water
  • For Cocktail
  • 1-2 oz Bourbon (we like Buffalo Trace)
  • 1 Oz Cranberry-Rosemary Simple Syrup (adjust based on preference)
  • 2 oz Orange Juice
  • 3 oz Seltzer Water
  • Candied Cranberries to garnish
  • Fresh Rosemary to garnish

Instructions

  1. For Cranberry Rosemary Simple Syrup
  2. In a small pot, stir together all the simple syrup ingredients. Bring the mixture to a boil, and then lower the stove to medium heat, (the sugar will fully dissolve and the cranberries will start popping.) Remove from the heat, stir, strain with a fine strainer and allow to cool.
  3. For Cocktail
  4. Combine ice, bourbon, simple syrup, orange juice and fresh rosemary into a shaker. Give it a shake until everything is combined. Pour into a glass filled with crushed ice. Top with seltzer water. Garnish with cranberries and rosemary.
