Crop tops have been seen everywhere this season. The idea of wearing a crop top was daunting but, I couldn’t help but test the trend out on my 80° Sunday. What pleasantly surprised me was how flattering the top was. I initially thought baring my midriff would look inappropriate and exposing, but that is not the case. I came to the conclusion that if worn properly, the crop top can look fabulous and refined!
I paired my mint lace crop top with high waisted lace pants, the similarity in textures helped the two pieces flow well together. I’ve seen many crop top & skirt/shorts “suits” that look amazing, so I attempted a similar effect with the continuous lace pattern. My accessories were blush toned because I adore the combination of mint and pale pink!
Here are some tips on how to style the crop top…
- Balance is key. If wearing a tight top, wear a more flowy bottom or reversed.
- Go for high waisted bottoms. Low-rise may show more skin and can become inappropriate.
- Layer on top of the crop. Throw on a jacket or cardigan so only a bit of skin is revealed.
- Be confident! I know you’re going to look great!
