two denim tones
It’s safe to say that I rarely stray from my comfort zone. Especially when it comes to trends that are a little out there. Last year, I saw so many two tone denim pieces that looked killer. That got me thinking, what if I pair two denim tones together. Behold, black and blue denim…together!
Some tips on how I would wear two denim tones follows!

The denim on denim combination is mastered by many, but I am still a complete novice. My recommendation is staying with completely different tones, like I did here. The grey/ black bottoms pair well with the light wash jacket. Nothing is to overpowering, making the entire outfit cohesive.
Another option is to pair white denim with the light denim. The white and blue combination is much more common, and looks great! I was pleased with the black and blue combination here too. Who says you can’t combine black with blue!
So what would I do to pair two denim tones?
- As I mentioned above, stay away from the same shade of blue. Go for very different colors like white denim and blue denim.
- Wear distressed pieces to up the texture. The frayed ankle and worn jacket had the same amount of wear, making the outfit work.
- If you’re sticking with blue on blue, add some color with your accessories to break up the monotony.
- Add glam with your accessories. Breaking the repetition is key; the last thing you want is to look extra matchy.
