How I Chose My Puppy’s Food

Puppy's Food

Growing up, I dreamed of having a dog to play with, but those wishes didn’t come to fruition until a couple of years ago. Enter Danni, my rambunctious golden-doodle that’s as destructive as she is fluffy. Going from a no-dog household to one with a puppy was a huge transition with an even bigger learning curve. But we adjusted and learned, and now I can’t imagine my days without her cuddles!

Puppy's Food

From the beginning, our breeder started Danni on a Purina ONE puppy product so as she grew, transitioning her to Purina ONE® SMARTBLEND® Lamb & Rice Formula Natural Adult Dog Food was a no brainer.

When choosing our puppy’s food, one of our priorities was to find food that supported her high energy lifestyle. After doing a little research, we learned that every ingredient in Purina ONE SMARTBLEND serves a purpose—and the nutritional benefits are easily noticed in Danni.

Since Purina ONE SMARTBLEND’s dry formulas are highly digestible and promote high nutrient absorption, all of the good stuff goes straight to work inside her.

If you’re a puppy owner, I understand how difficult it is to make the right decisions for your pup’s health and well being. When we were transitioning Danni from puppy food to adult food, we specifically looked for something specially formulated for an adult dog, and Purina ONE SMARTBLEND had the nutritional requirements that an adult dog needs!

It’s crazy to think of Danni as an adult; she’s always going to be a puppy in my eyes! But, I’m so glad we transitioned her to food that suits her body as she grows. We’ve noticed more clear, alert eyes, a healthier coat, and most importantly, a love for the food!

Danni weighs almost 60 pounds now, so she goes through food quickly! I was so happy when I saw Purina ONE SmartBlend Lamb & Rice Adult Formula Dry Dog Food at my local Sam’s Club!! It’s a 44 pound “club size” bag that will last a while. Sam’s Club is also where we found her doggie bed and treats, so it’s a one-stop shop; they have a whole aisle filled with pet supplies!! Even better? Sam’s members save over 10% annually – $21!! – buying Purina ONE at Sam’s Club!

Since Purina ONE SmartBlend gives Danni all the energy she needs, we came up with some ways to keep her engaged throughout the week!

  • 30-minute walks a little after meal time. I’ve noticed that this is when she has the most energy, so a little exercise goes a long way. Working puppy owners can schedule their dog walking service at this time.
  • Hiding meaty morsels from the dry food around the house. It’s like a treasure hunt!
  • Weekly runs for extra exercise and to tire her out. This also keeps the humans healthy and happy! 🙂
  • Daily dog trick routine that keeps her up to date on all of her commands.
  • Lastly, spending as much time as possible playing and cuddling with her since we know this is when she’s the happiest.

Love it! We’re waiting for the weather to finally warm up so we can go on nice long walks…the short ones in the cold are just no fun!

And I love the food bowls you have! Where’d you get those at?
