Hello hello,
Happy Monday annnnnd woo it’s May (birth month, yay!)! Can I obsess about the most recent Game of Thrones episode. Not giving away any spoilers, but the episode left me in SHOCK…I was literally screaming at the TV(I rarely do this). CANNOT wait til Sunday, I’m actually replaying the episode in the background as I type hehe.
Now on to this outfit. I’m always weary of wearing fall colors in the springtime, but sometimes I can’t help but reach for the rich hues.

Olive, mustard and maroon are some of my favorite colors, so it’s impossible to remove them from my spring wardrobe. I’m also all for making every item in my closet extra versatile, so I would hate to pack away a particular blouse just because it’s a fall color.

Sticking to weather appropriate cuts and textures makes wearing fall colors easier in the spring. With “retro” fashion being trendy recently, darker shades are becoming popular year round, so it’s hard to stay away. When wearing an unorthodox color choice, I try to pair it with a classic, non-seasonal color such as navy or beige.

I chose to stick with mustard shorts with a lightweight knit navy blouse. Since the blouse was knit, it was surprisingly comfortable in the heat this past weekend. One of my fears is overheating when wearing darker colors, but that did not happen with these textures. Balancing out bold color choices with light fabrics is key.

What do you think of my spring approach to a classic fall color combination? Would you give it a shot?
Thanks for stopping by! Have a great start to your week!

I think you can make any color work for any season, especially navy, which is one of my favorites.
